He's already grabbing the kettle and filling it with water to boil. Good fo the cocoa and also for killing the awful in the water.
However, he then gestures to a seat for Dipper to take.]
So, what's up little man?
no subject
So... [He takes a deep breath.] Back in October we hung out at the library. You seemed really worried about me but I kind of just brushed you off and I sort of wanted to apologize for that.
no subject
Hey, look kid. I get it. You wanted to seem tough, not a weak or defenseless or something. I've been there.
You don't need to apologize for it 'cause well, you were just doing what you thought was best at the time.
[ However, the but is about to land; ]
But, the thing is, you shouldn't need to do that. At least not with me and not with the people you trust. Shit here will get heavy fast and if you keep it all up in your headspace, you're gonna burst.
Probably literally.
no subject
Yeah. I’ve ...kind of had to learn that the hard way. Back at the library I don’t think I’d even really ...grasped? What happened, so I was just trying not to think about it as much as possible and it really didn’t go that well for me.
[There’s a pause and Dipper looks off to the side, contrite.]
The truth is, I didn’t want you to know how badly I messed up.
no subject
But, Dipper isn't and well Glitch is far nicer when it comes to the younger kids. ]
Hey. Look. I've messed up plenty too. I'm not a badass 24/7. Literally my dad figure had to come in and save me from being force joked by a psycho. It was embarrassing but it wouldn't do any good not to talk it out with him ya?
[ There's a pause as he hears the kettle go off and he steps over to pour the hot water into two mugs of chocolate powder, before he hands it off to Dipper. ]
You just gotta remember, this place will make even the most hardened guy mess up. So, like. Don't feel like you can't talk to me about this stuff 'cause I'm never gonna think it's your fault, got it?
no subject
...Thanks. I think I really needed to hear that.
[He looks down for a moment, frowning again. It really was illuminating, to be told that this place could get to anyone, and maybe what happened wasn’t entirely the result of him being weak.]
I’ve been beating myself up over it basically since it happened, you know? After everything I’ve been through, how did I last a grand total of two weeks before this place made me crazy enough to take out my own eye.
no subject
But, it ain't. You fall into that trap and you're basically vindicating what Mother Superior thinks about us, and she's a fucking bitch.
[ Woops. Swearing around the small children, but either way, he knows it needs to be said. So, he leans back in his seat taking a sip of his hot chocolate. ]
It's okay to feel bad though that you lost something, but remember what's really at fault here. It's not you, it's the town.
Cw: discussion of eye trauma, demonic possession, and losing grips with reality from here on out.
[Mabel was good at doing that, and her absence is felt very strongly in this moment.]
[Dipper reaches up to pull off the eye patch, so Glitch can actually see the damage that was done. Glitch is probably the first person Dipper has willingly shown the injury to, outside of his uncles, so it’s a pretty big show of trust.]
The town knew exactly what it was doing in order to get under my skin. It made me think I was being haunted by a demon we dealt with back home. One that had a history of stealing bodies and possession.
no subject
Fuck, man. That looks like it really freaking hurt.... [ He wouldn't even know where to begin to treat it, or even if he could. It looked like the damage was done.
Still, he looks back up when Dipper gives an explanation and well...Glitch raises a brow slowly. Maybe he's jumping to conclusions but Ford had mentioned something of a Demon back when they first met. Something that caused a weird apocalypse like back in October. So slowly, he says; ]
This wouldn't happen to be the evil triangle guy, Bill Cipher? Was he the one that you were seeing?
no subject
I don’t say this lightly, but I don’t think anything has hurt worse than this. I definitely don’t recommend losing an eye.
[Seriously.]
[Anyway, Dipper’s eyebrows go up in surprise when Glitch actually guesses who he’s talking about. Huh, so one of his uncles must have already warned him about Bill. That was good to know.]
...yeah, actually. So, that makes explaining things a little easier. If Bill tricked you into making a deal with him, you basically gave him body snatching rights, which is what happened to me once.
So, over the course of October I would black out and wake up with signs of his possession. I’d find bruises from him slamming doors on my arms and legs, which escalated into— [He pushes up the sleeves of his shirt, showing several puncture scars going all the way up his arms.] silverware getting jabbed into my arms. All things that matched the sort of stuff he did when he took my body for a joyride last summer.
[He pauses, shaking his head.]
But Bill was never here. It was me. I was the one doing this to myself.
no subject
But, that could wait. Right now was dealing with what actually happened.
So, when Dipper explains the teenager sighs a little bit. Not in judgment but worry. ]
Jesus...I'm sorry that happened, Dipper. That the town made you think you were being possessed. It couldn't have been easy...especially with what it ended up doing to you.
[ It just stirs an anger in him though this time it's one of helplessness. It's not like he could punch someone for this. ]
There's not much I can do about what happened but like...don't ever think you can't talk to me about this crap, okay? I'm not about to make fun of you. I'd have to be some kind of fucked up asshole to do that.
